Meet and Feed

Join us in the alpaca enclosure for a fun and interactive session where you’ll learn all about these amazing animals. We’ll share some fascinating alpaca facts, test your knowledge with a quick quiz, and then introduce you to our lovely boys up close. You’ll then get a chance to feed them with some of our freshly prepared snacks!

You’ll also have time to take plenty of photos—so get your camera ready!

Alpaca walks

Our walks begin with a short health & safety briefing, followed by some fun alpaca facts and a chance to meet our lovely boys up close.

Then we’ll set off around the park, taking in stunning views of the lake as you lead your alpaca.

Prefer not to lead? No problem—you’re welcome to join us for the walk and enjoy the experience alongside the group. Book below £15 per person. Please note that bookings for this activity close 48 hours in advance, to ensure our team is available to help.

We want everyone to get the most from their time with us. Please arrive on time — unfortunately we cannot wait for late arrivals or offer refunds, but we are happy to help you rebook at a convenient time.

Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult/guardian at all times.

Alpaca Walks & Hot Weather

The wellbeing of our alpacas always comes first. On hot days, we may need to shorten, adjust, or pause alpaca walks for their safety.

Alpacas have a thick fleece, and in warm weather they can be at real risk of heat stress, which can become serious very quickly. We follow the joint welfare code of the British Alpaca Society and British Llama Society, which is clear that animals shouldn't be walked on hot days, and that routes and timings should be adjusted whenever the weather calls for it.

In practice, this means:

We check each alpaca before every walk and will adjust or pause a walk at any sign of heat stress
Walks may be shortened, rescheduled, or occasionally cancelled on very hot days
If your booked walk is affected, we'll let you know as early as possible and offer to rebook or adjust your visit

We know this can be disappointing if you've planned your visit around it, but we won't compromise on the welfare of our animals. Thank you for understanding.

What to bring and who can walk alpacas

Our Alpaca Walk lasts about an hour and follows a scenic route around Buckland Park Lake. The trail is off-road, with some uneven, muddy, or slippery patches—especially in wet weather. Please wear sturdy footwear like walking boots, wellies, or grippy trainers. In colder months, dress for the weather with warm, waterproof clothing.

Important:
For safety reasons, please don’t book for children below the minimum age or with more than two children per adult. We’d hate to disappoint you on the day.
