Alpacas are gentle, intelligent camelids originally from the high Andes of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador and northern Chile. Renowned for fleece that’s softer than cashmere and warmer than wool. Two distinct breeds graze our meadow, the teddy-fluffy Huacaya and the rarer, silky-locked Suri (fewer than 10 % worldwide). In Britain’s mild climate they thrive for 15–20 years; adult males are Machos, females Hembras, and youngsters Crias.
From Boomer’s shy charm to Enzo and Einstein’s inseparable antics, each alpaca has a personality as distinctive as his fleece. Come and meet them, feel the difference between Huacaya plush and Suri silk, and meet these captivating creatures for yourself.
